Chase N. Peterson was born in Logan, Utah on the 27th day of December, 1929. The son of Utah State University president E. G. Peterson, he attended public schools in Utah for nine years but later earned an AB degree from Harvard College and an MD degree from Harvard Medical School (in 1952 and 1956, respectively) and practiced medicine in Salt Lake City for five years in the mid-1960's.
